Commercial coverage and co-insurance in beta; business income coming soon

Commercial losses carry their own coverage records, a co-insurance calculation, and a business-income calculation. Coverage records and co-insurance are in production, in beta, with explicit accept and override review; the business-income calculation is built in the platform but not yet usable from the application.

What's real today

  • Commercial coverage records and a co-insurance calculation are in beta, released to production in September 2026.
  • The co-insurance calculation is explicit about readiness: if a required input is missing, it says so instead of guessing.
  • Business income / business interruption calculation is coming soon: the platform can compute it and record accept and override steps, but there is no screen for it in the application, it is not in the case report, and there is no period-of-restoration logic yet.
  • Coverage and co-insurance are early-access features — expect scope and output to keep changing as more commercial claims run through them.

Coverage as a record, not a side calculation

Commercial coverage in PaxExact is recorded per estimate rather than computed once off to the side and pasted into a report. Coverage details live on the case alongside the evidence and the scope, which keeps a co-insurance result attached to the specific inputs that produced it instead of a number that arrives without its context.

This is new: commercial coverage and co-insurance were released to production in September 2026. That's recent enough that scope and output are still changing, which is exactly what beta means here — real, in use, not finished settling.

Recording coverage this way also means a commercial estimate carries its own coverage context wherever it travels — into the case-file export, into a later revision — instead of that context living only in a separate document someone has to remember to attach.

Co-insurance that admits what it doesn't know

A co-insurance calculation depends on specific inputs — most obviously, the coverage amount stated in the policy relative to the required amount. When one of those inputs is missing, PaxExact's calculation reports exactly what's missing rather than filling the gap with an assumption or a rounded guess.

That matters more in commercial claims than almost anywhere else on the platform: a co-insurance penalty is a real dollar consequence for the insured, and a guessed number dressed up as a calculated one is worse than no number at all.

When co-insurance can't run

Required input missing (e.g., stated coverage amount) → the calculation reports what's missing.
All inputs present → co-insurance factor computed and recorded, with accept/override state.

Business income, computed and reviewable

A business-income (business interruption) calculation is designed to attach to the case the same way. Inputs are entered by the professional — the platform computes the result and records it, along with an explicit accept or override step, so the review trail stays intact rather than disappearing into a spreadsheet nobody attached to the file.

That calculation is coming soon, not in beta. The platform side exists — financial inputs, the computation, and the accept and override record — but there is no screen for it in the application yet, it is not included in the case report, and the loss period is entered by hand; PaxExact does not derive a period of restoration. Until those land, treat business income as something to calculate outside PaxExact.

What beta means for coverage and co-insurance

Beta here doesn't mean unreliable arithmetic — the calculations are enforced server-side, the same way pricing and totals are elsewhere on the platform. It means the surface around them (which inputs are captured, how overrides are presented, what the exported record looks like) is still being refined based on real commercial claims, not a finished, unchanging feature.

If you're evaluating PaxExact for a commercial book of business today, expect the coverage and co-insurance workflow to keep changing shape over the coming months as more claims run through them, and expect business income to arrive later — plan for that, rather than treating September 2026's version as the final one.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Is commercial coverage fully mature?

It's in beta — in production for early-access users, recently released in September 2026, with scope and output still changing.

What happens if co-insurance is missing an input?

The calculation says so explicitly rather than estimating around the gap. Nothing is guessed.

Can I override a business-income calculation?

The platform records overrides alongside its computed result, so the review trail stays intact — but the business-income calculation is coming soon and has no screen in the application yet.
