Contents inventory is coming soon; valuation isn't built yet
The platform can store contents items per room on an estimate, but there is no screen for entering them in the application yet, so contents inventory is coming soon. Depreciation and replacement-cost / actual-cash-value valuation for those items are designed but not built.
What's real today
- Contents inventory is coming soon: the platform stores items per room and includes them in the case report, but there is no screen for entering them in the application yet, and they do not count toward estimate totals.
- Contents valuation — replacement cost, actual cash value, and depreciation — is planned, not built.
- Totals today are RCV-only and say so explicitly rather than implying a depreciated figure.
- Depreciation and actual cash value are not computed for contents, or anywhere else on the platform, today.
Itemization by room, coming soon
The platform side of contents inventory exists: items can be stored per room on an estimate, alongside the structural scope for that room, and they appear in the case report. What isn't there yet is a screen in the application for entering them, which is why this is coming soon rather than in beta. Contents items also do not count toward estimate totals yet.
Once the screen ships, itemization sits on the same case as the rest of the claim, per room, rather than in a free-text inventory list disconnected from the rest of the file.
What valuation would add
Itemizing contents is only half the job; valuing them is the other half, and that half is designed but not built. The intent is replacement-cost and actual-cash-value figures with documented depreciation per item — the kind of valuation a contents claim needs to settle. None of that is in production today.
This sits on the roadmap, not in active development ahead of the other 'coming soon' items on this site — treat contents valuation as further out, not imminent.
Why 'RCV-only' is stated, not implied
Because depreciation isn't computed yet, PaxExact's totals say so directly rather than leaving it ambiguous. Every total reports itself as RCV-only when no depreciation has been applied, instead of presenting a final-looking number that quietly skipped a step.
What a total reports about valuation
Where contents sits in the workflow
Contents items are stored on the same case as the structural scope, evidence, and pricing state for the rest of the claim — a category of item, not a separate system with its own rules.
In practice, until the entry screen and valuation both ship, keep your contents inventory and its depreciation outside the platform.
FAQ
Frequently asked
Can I depreciate contents in PaxExact today?
No. Depreciation and RCV/ACV valuation for contents are planned, not built. Every total today reports itself as RCV-only, not depreciated.
Is contents inventory usable now?
Not yet. The platform can store contents items per room and includes them in the case report, but there is no screen for entering them in the application yet — it's coming soon.
Will PaxExact estimate depreciation for me if I don't provide it?
No. Nothing is estimated silently. Until valuation is built, every total stays marked RCV-only rather than implying a depreciated figure.
